The Perfect Valentine’s Day Lipstick

Valentine’s Day is this Sunday and over the past few days my YouTube subscription feed has been populated with both natural and dramatic makeup tutorials, all featuring red lipstick. This got me thinking about what I think is the perfect red lipstick out of the shades I own, and I think I found a new favourite product! A couple weeks ago I received a mini version of the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in the shade Dolce Vita in the Mecca Beauty Loop box, and after finally trying it out I think I’ve fallen in love (mind the “v day” pun).

This is how describes the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil Collection:

This velvet matte finish pencil is long lasting and is enriched with vitamin E to give a creamy textured finish. It can be used for lining, an all over- lip colour or paired with another lip product. With rich vivid shades that are easy to apply this is a must have for anyone wanting high impact lip colour on the go.

I’ve never owned one of the Nars Lip Pencils but nothing else in my collection can compare to the quality of these! They feel so light on your lips but the colour payoff isn’t compromised in the slightest, and their lasting ability is fantastic.

I have the shade Dolce Vita which to me looks like a dulled down red shade, but on the Mecca website it looks more pink and is described as a “dusty rose” shade. I think that’s why I love this shade so much, it looks so beautiful and full of colour but is also so natural and subtle. I think it’s the perfect red shade for everyday and to bring you from day to night effortlessly. You can also sharpen these pencils, however I haven’t attempted that yet! Here’s a selfie of me wearing it so you can see the true colour on the lips.

So that’s what I would consider the perfect Valentine’s Day lipstick! Whether you’re getting ready for date night or settling in with Netflix I hope you all have a lovely Sunday. Give this post a “like” if you enjoyed it and thank you so much for reading!

All the love,
