A Mid Year Break To Do List

Anyone else make a list of fun/productive things you want to do when you’ll have the time to help get you through those final weeks of the semester? Because I sure do. From projects I want to finally get off the ground, to books I’m dying to get into, shows I want to binge, to just little things I haven’t had time for, here’s a list of things I want to do during my mid semester break! If you enjoy this post give it a “like” so I know, and let’s get into the to dos!

Get a chair for my desk – Okay wow this task has been on various to do lists for months now, and after looking at things online and closing tabs upon seeing prices, I can’t wait to just start properly looking. I have a desk in my room but no chair, so instead of it being used for functional purposes, I kind of just dump things on it and walk away. But that’s gonna change! Do I hate the fact that I’m doing this half way through my final year of studying? Yes, but I’m trying not to think about it.

Redecorate my room – Is it obvious I’m dying to go to IKEA? I’ve had the same bedspread and couch pillow covers for ages, and I have a new colour palette in mind, so I can’t wait to just spruce things up a bit.

Rejig my wall – Adding on from the previous post, above my couch I have this giant wall space that I never know what to put there. When I was younger it was covered in One Direction posters, and then years ago I covered it in cool looking pages from Russh magazines. It’s in dire need of some new inspiration, so while I’ve got some ideas in mind, I’ve just needed time to properly redo it all.

Read as many books as I can – Moving from interiors to entertainment, I have fallen appallingly behind in my ‘read one book a month’ goal. With a To-Read list the length of my forearm, I can’t wait to tick as many of them off as possible. The weather has finally turned cold where I live, so I can’t wait to curl up with a good read. What’s currently on my list is Drag Teen, Ready Player One, the Crazy Rich Asians series, The Hate You Give, What Alice Forgot and more.

Watch as many shows as I can – Earlier this month Brooklyn Nine-Nine almost got cancelled (well it did, and then it got picked up by another network, thank god) but in typical ‘you don’t know what you have until it’s gone’ fashion, I freaked out. B99 has been on my ‘To Watch’ list for ages, and the thought of it getting cancelled made me panic. I’ve seen a couple episodes but have always wanted to watch more, so it’s at the top of my list. I’m not entirely sure why (perhaps it’s the trials and tribulations of university) but pretty much my entire ‘To Watch’ list is full of funny sitcoms. From B99 to Broad City, The Office (US) and Seinfeld (which I’ve seen a lot of but out of order), I seem desperate for a good laugh. Problematic as it is, I also want to watch the second season of 13 Reasons Why because I saw the first, and also Stan’s Unreal after hearing such good reviews.

Get more work experience – Since I travelled so much at the start of the year and I’m still working heaps during the university break, I want to try and lock down more work experience and internships. I already have something lined up, but if I can organise one or two more things, it would be a great use of my time. If you’re in a similar boat, definitely try and email places you’d love to get some insight into as the break is a great time for this and it’s great for your CV!

Get my flu shot – With flu season right around the corner, I really need to get my flu shot. It’s been put on the back burner, but since I’ll have some time off, and if I feel a little fluey because of it, the mid year break is the best time to get it.

Meet up – Since exam season is coming, everyone has buckled down to study, but I can’t wait for when this stressful time is gone and I can reunite with people!

Upload travel photos to Facebook – I am literally the worst when it comes to updating Facebook. I put so much effort into Instagram and my blog, so when it comes to Facebook albums, they get left in the dust. Is it annoying to upload travel photos from months ago? Probably, but I’ll do it anyway.

Get my nails done – A super important task that has a high priority. Kidding, but I say every year that I’m going to treat myself and get my nails done during the mid year break and I never do? So if I write it down maybe I’ll actually go. Lord knows my stubby, anxiety bitten nails could use some TLC.

Fix my cracked phone screen – My glass screen protector cracked a solid 4 days after I bought it, so I’ve been meaning to get a new one for ages. I’m so pleased it did its job and that my actual screen is fine, but it’s just seemed like such a chore to go out and fix it. While I’m at it, I really need a proper case for my phone, so I’ll pick one of those up too.

So that’s my mid year break to do list! If you’re coming up to a holiday, what are some of the things you have planned? Leave me a comment below, I’d love to hear and also pick up some novel or television recommendations if you have any!

Also don’t forget to give this post a “like” if you enjoyed it!

All the love,

  1. Reading is something I’ve gotten back into this year and I love getting stuck into a good book! My library has this awesome thing where you can search for and read ebooks through apps using your library card for free. Show off your nails if you get them done! x
