I feel weirdly pressured to set myself some wildly exciting goals for 2019? What’s up with that? 2018 was the biggest year of my life, and while I’m so happy to finally chill out and catch my breath, I feel this random pressure that if my goals aren’t sensational enough, I’m not preparing myself for a great year? Someone please tell me they feel the same. Anyway, here’s what I genuinely want to do in 2019. This is the first time in what, 15 years (??) that I won’t be studying, and while it feels surreal to not set goals around what kind of marks I want to get, it mainly feels super liberating. Keep reading to see how I went with what I set myself in 2018, and to know what are my goals for the year ahead.
I know last week was prime time for discussing our 2018 goals, but since the new year I’ve been busying packing a suitcase, boarding various planes and flying across the world – happy new year indeed! Now that I’m settled in Florence, I finally have time to discuss my goals, resolutions and reminders for the year ahead. Keep reading to find out what I hope to achieve, what I want to do more of, and what I’m going to keep reminding myself throughout 2018!
The end of the year is just days away, so before I start penning some ideas for what I want to achieve in 2018, it’s time to look back on my 2017 goals! This year was the first time I posted about my goals and then actively checked in with them during the year, and I’m so glad to see that this system was actually effective! Since I ticked off some of my big goals half way through the year, I felt quite accomplished and wasn’t so focused on the rest for the second half of 2017. Looking back on them now, most of these goals, particularly the whole concept of setting ‘beauty goals’, aren’t really relevant to me anymore, which I think is a great thing! It’s made me realise what’s important to focus on for 2018, and its shown where I can improve my goal setting. As we approach the middle of the year and wonder where the heck the time is going, now seems like the perfect time to check in on the goals I set myself for 2017 to see how they’re progressing. I’m always goal setting, whether it be big tasks like wanting to finish my university degree, or just daily To Do lists where I want to accomplish some chores. No matter what you want to achieve though, I think to make your goals effective you have to refer back to them semi-regularly so you don’t loose track of what you want! I can happily say I have already ticked off some of the tasks I set myself back in January, and it’s been really rewarding to see those goals completed and motivates me to continue working on the remaining ones! Check out my goals and why I set them for myself here, and keep reading to see which ones I’ve completed! Also don’t forget to give this post a “like” if you enjoy it!
Since the word “resolutions” is always associated with failure and broken promises, this year I’ve opted to create myself some “goals” or reminders for the new year ahead. My mantra is usually something along the lines of “you got this girl, keep doing you”, which has proven successful so far. I’m so happy I can walk into 2017 feeling pretty damn content. I achieved a lot in the three big elements of my life in 2016; university, work and blogging. In 2017 I’m going into my second year of university where I’ve overcome the nervous, first year student moments but haven’t yet reached my final year – a happy medium. I still have my job at my old high school that I got last year which I find so incredibly rewarding. Blogging wise, I had an amazing experience last year with constantly publishing a lot of quality content that I was really proud of. I have so many ideas for blogging this year so hopefully they manifest before the semester starts where my blogging time is reduced! So, I hope you find my beauty and life goals for 2017 interesting or that they spark some inspiration for your own goals! Two days ago I sat my final exam for the year and finished my first ever year of university! Coincidentally, today marks exactly one year since I graduated high school, so I thought today would be the perfect time to write about the things I learnt from my experience at university over the last year! This is half things I learnt, half advice I’d give to anyone starting this new chapter in the near future. I hope you enjoy it and find it helpful!
